A third arena, a fairer translocator, and room for everyone
A new arena, new rules for the translocator, and a lot of work under the hood.
What is new
- CTF-Containment: Toxic Techbase. A compact third arena built around three routes: a high gantry for long shots, a middle causeway over a trench of toxic slime with the damage amplifier out in the open, and tight maintenance corridors along the sides. Each flag room has several ways in. Flag to flag takes about ten seconds at a run. Fall into the slime and it is over.
- A fairer translocator. It now holds two charges. Each teleport uses one, and a charge comes back three seconds later, so a quick double hop still works but endless hopping does not. Small pips under the crosshair show your charges. Landings next to walls are now the same on both sides of every map, and the game always prefers solid floor to a drop.
- Flags and players that move. Flags are cloth now: they ripple at their base and stream behind whoever carries them. Players and bots take real strides, lean into turns, tuck their legs when they jump and roll when they dodge, and their footsteps land when their feet do.
- New surfaces. Every arena has textures at the same scale everywhere, with more depth in the panels. Containment has its own brown and green techbase look. All of it is drawn by the game itself, so the download barely grew.
- Room for everyone. When a match fills up, a new one opens, so a crowd never squeezes into one match. If the server is ever full, the game says so and keeps trying; it never drops you into solo play.
Coming next
Private matches you set up with an invite link, parties that keep friends on one team, and a new renderer with glow, reflections and graphics settings.
